What should I write in my
Wedding Thank You cards?

This question has been asked of us over
and over by newly wed couples who are
trying to find just the right way to say
"thank you" to the people that have given
gifts or money to start them on the way to
a wonderful new life. The most important
thing to remember : Say Thank You.

Be thoughtful, mention the gift specifically,
and some direct comment of what you will
do with this item. For example: Aunt Kim,
thank you so much for the fondue pot. We
look forward to using it at our home warming
party. Or Uncle Bob, thank you so much for
the money. We will put it toward the house
we are saving for.  Or Grandma, thank you so
much for coming to our wedding. We know you
traveled far and we enjoyed being together
as a family again.

Keep it short and sweet yet vivid and complete.
Be sure to use your friendly name for them:
Uncle Bob, is much better than Robert Kensington.
Grandma, is so much more friendly than
Mrs. Rosalie Huff. If you are creative and a clear
writer, create a verse to put at the top of the card.
"Thank you for being a special part of our
family/friendship circle and for sharing in our
wedding day." Always personalize this verse
with a handwritten note.  If you are religious,
don’t forget to say it - You might think of it as
a prayer you might say at bedtime or a grace
before a meal. "God has blessed us with a
loving family."

If you would like to share a photo from your wedding,
honeymoon or a creative photo of the two of you,
making a photo postcard can be a personal blend
of a memory photo and a thank you all in one.

Remember to get your thank you cards mailed within
2-3 months of your wedding.

Headline examples:

Thank you for all the thoughtful gifts and prayers

Our sincere thanks for your good wishes and thoughtful gift.

Thank you for helping to make our day very special

Thank you for sharing in our joy, for keeping us in your
prayers, and for giving us a gift of love.

You have been such an important part of our lives.

We are so thankful for your generosity.

We are reminded of how little we see each other
and that we should take the time throughout the year
to be together as a family.
